While there were some highlights, I must say, the day seemed to culminate our unpredictable week of difficulties. It seems like with every child, we have one of those moments about a week in that just makes you say, "Seriously?" I remember nursing Lex in the living room at 4 in the morning and Phoebe spit up a hairball; I knocked over a drink; then Jordan peed on the floor right in front of me - it makes me laugh to think about it now, but at the time I just thought, "Really - is this what we're in for?"
When Taye was about a week old, Lex was screaming and hanging on to Michael's leg because he had to work; I had just gotten dressed so I could run an errand with the boys when Taye spit up all over me; and, sure enough, Phoebe spit up a hairball again. We were in a good enough mood at the time to laugh in the moment.
I hope to look back on Valentine's day in a few years and laugh too. Michael has had unexpected issues with both his company and rental properties; everyone except, thankfully, Elliana has been sick at some point in the week and we're all experiencing a relapse this weekend; and then while making dinner, I sliced into my own finger with the kitchen knife - SERIOUSLY?

Oh no! I hope your finger heals quickly!
