Boys are Growing

As the new year and a new baby approaches, I've been reflecting on how much Lex and Taye have changed in 2008. They both have very different talents and personalities.
Lexander is still strong linguistically. He wrote his letter to Santa with only some help from me to sound out the words and remember to go to the next line. Much of his humor is word play - he thought it was just hilarious to change around "good morning" in arabic from "Sabah el kheir" (sounds similar to hair) to "Sabah el 'nose'," "Sabah el 'mouth'," "Sabah el 'eyes'" and other body part substitutions.
While Lex loves to scream out the lyrics to his favorite songs, I would say Taye is more musical - dancing to the beat and playing on the piano. They both love to dance around the living room together and put puzzles together, but Taye is much more physical and Lex more mental when playing.
Tayedon is mainly using sign language, but is growing fond of making animal sounds like mooing for a cow, growling for a bear, meowing for a cat, etc. He loves trains and cars and tools and, just like Lex, he will drop everything for quality time with Daddy. Most of the time he's crazy about his brother too, but then they have their moments where sharing is a struggle. Taye likes reading a book with Lex before bed, but hasn't successfully slept in the toddler bed we set up in the boys' room yet.
We have to be careful what we say around Lex since he's starting to repeat things we didn't know he was listening too. He's getting us to think about how to explain big concepts as well, like the different celebrations for various religions at the holidays and other important topics - he still isn't quite satisfied with my answer about how the baby is going to come out of my belly:)
Perhaps labor is an indicator on the temperament of a child: Lex is still by the book, Taye requires patience, and our little girl may be unpredictable.
