Our impromptu trip to DC wasn’t all we had envisioned. Someone bought a bumper on Craigslist and lived just outside of DC so we decided to deliver and save the shipping money. A four-hour drive is perfect for us, but DC was another hour away. We wanted to make the most of it, but Taye was just too tired and not even the dinosaurs in the Museum of Natural History could cheer him up. He loved the subway though! Elli and Taye were asleep pretty quickly while Daddy took Lex out for dinner since he deserved it. Unfortunately, by the next day Lex was grumpy too and we decided to call it quits after a couple hours at the Air and Space Museum and a torturous walk to the Capitol building. Sherief really wanted to see the White House so I dropped him off while we sat in traffic and picked him up on the other side. We’ll have to wait a few more years before attempting the educational family trip we imagined, but it did give us inspiration for a weekend grown-up getaway.
