Moorehead Planetarium

Lex’s birthday continued the next day when we went to see a Magic Tree House show called Mission to the Moon with the Lukasaviges.  Since he got hooked on the series in September, he has borrowed every book from the school library they had and them from the third grade teacher across the hall.  I got what I could from our local library, and Christine successfully found the final book, #45, at her library so he could finish the series before his birthday.  Lex wrote the author a letter and when I was looking for her address, I discovered she and her husband had opened a planetarium show just 30 minutes from us in Chapel Hill!  The pre-show watching the planets was a lot of fun and Lex really enjoyed hearing the main characters Jack & Annie on their mission to help “M” which in this case didn’t stand for Merlin or Morgan, but the author Mary Pope Osborne.

Timing was great too because after the show we explored the building and discovered it was Legopalooza too!  Pretty cool creations (I didn’t post all of the picts) ranging from transformers to assembly lines made out of legos.

The Lukasaviges had to head home, but we ended Lex’s birthday celebration with miso soup (his favorite), sushi, teriyaki, and green tea ice cream at our favorite Japanese restaurant in Carrboro, Akai Hana.
